(Iowa City) Atlantic High School graduate Jordan Mullen is a Big 10 Conference champion in the 60M Hurdles. The Iowa Hawkeye senior ran a school record time of 7.70 at the Big 10 meet.
He broke his own school record for the third time in his career, shaving .03 off of his previous best. Mullen says his competitive nature comes from the desire to prove doubters wrong. He has battled multiple injuries while at Iowa, but credits Iowa assistant coach Joey Woody for adapting the training schedule. A new strength and conditioning coach has also aided in Mullen's ability to make it through the indoor season healthy.
Mullen now looks ahead to the NCAA Championships in Fayettevill, Arkansas saying he has "bigger fish to fry." He placed 9th as a sophomore and earned 2nd team All-American honors, but maintains he won't consider himself a true All-American unless he finishes in the top eight this year.
