(Glenwood) A big second half propelled Atlantic over Creston 68-48 in a Class 3A District Final at Glenwood Friday night.
The Trojans opened up the second half with a 20-9 run after holding quarter leads of 13-12, and 29-28.
Sam Markham, who cut his left eye during a scramble for a rebound led Atlantic with 22-points. Dalton Franken knocked down 17, and Stuart Hoegh posted 12-points.
Creston Senior Luke Neitzel was a handful for the Trojans in the first half scoring 16 of the Panthers 28-points with most of those coming from close range. But, the Trojans defense adjusted and held him to just six second half points. Neitzel finished the night with 22-points, Briar Evans chipped in 13.
Another key for Atlantic was the difference in turnovers. The Panthers committed 18- turnovers to the Trojans 4.
Atlantic improves their record to 22-1. Creston season comes to an end at 19-4.
The Trojans will square off against Harlan on Monday night in a Class 3A Sub State final. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
