(Carroll) Harlan edged Perry in a very close regional final 48-42 Tuesday night. The Cyclones advance to state for the 10th time in school history.
The game was extremely close the entire way with the teams trading buckets early on and ending the first quarter in a 12-12 tie. Harlan's largest lead in the game was seven points which didn't come until midway through the fourth quarter and was quickly cut back to two by a Perry 5-0 run.
Harlan freshman Taylor Frederick scored 11 of her team high 13 points in the second half which proved to be huge in a tight ballgame. Harlan led by two going in to the fourth quarter and never trailed in the final eight minutes of the game but Perry threatened to tie it up or take the lead on several possessions.
The Cyclones head to the state tournament with a 21-2 record. Their lone two losses are to fellow Class 4A qualifier Lewis Central. Perry is eliminated with a 16-7 mark.
