(Creston) The Creston Panthers (18-3) posted an impressive 79-49 win over Winterset in the first round of the Class 3A District Tournament. The Panthers doubled their margin of victory from their regular season win over the Huskies.

Five Panthers scored in double figures and 12 different players notched at least one tally in the points column. Trey Thomsen led the way with 16 and Luke Neitzel scored 13 points. The win sets a rematch with 21-1 Atlantic, a team that has handed Creston 2 of their 3 losses this season. The other loss came to Kuemper Catholic at the buzzer.

The rematch with Atlantic on Thursday night is for the district championship and the right to take on either Carroll or Harlan in substate. The game is scheduled to be played at Nodaway Valley High School in Greenfield on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. KS95.7 FM will have the broadcast.
