CYCLONES PASS FIRST POSTSEASON TEST WITH FLYING COLORS

(Harlan) Harlan's 6-0 run late in the third quarter broke a 14-0 tie and catapulted the Cyclones to a 26 point victory over Glenwood in the first round of the Class 3A Boys District basketball tournament.

All five starters scored in double figures for the Cyclones who move on to oppose Carroll Thursday night (weather permitting). Nathan Cave led the way with 14 of his 18 points coming in the first quarter. Cave's back-to-back three's late in the first turned a close game into a contest that quickly became one-sided. Freshman Kyle Juhl buried two of Harlan's 8 three pointers in the game and finished with a career high 16 points. Trey Lansman scored 15 points with Gabe Ferry adding 14 and Adam Juhl scoring 11.

Harlan improves to 16-6 heading into their matchup with a Carroll squad that survived a scare from Greene County in the first round. The 18-3 Tigers needed overtime to pull out a 59-52 first round win. Harlan beat Carroll 70-51 in the final game of the regular season. Their next meeting will be for a trip to sub-state against either Creston or Alantic.
