(Guthrie Center) Guthrie Center improves to 18-4 with a 31 point victory over Woodward-Granger in the Tiger's first game of the 2013 postseason. Guthrie Center elimintated Woodward-Granger from the tourney with a 63-32 victory.
Adam Courtney scored 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds while twin brother Caleb Courtney made sure there were several tallies by his name on the stat sheet. Caleb Courtney narrowly missed a triple-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists, 6 steals, and 4 blocked shots.
Coach Seth Poldberg says the team came out a little bit slow following a long layoff. Guthrie Center had 10 days between their final regular season game and first district contest. He says they got going in the second quarter when they buried seven three pointers. They outscored Woodward-Granger 29-4 in the 2nd period.
Up next is Woodward-Academy, a team that Guthrie Center has defeated twice already this year. The pair of wins are by a combined 9 points including a come from behind one point win in their first meeting. The Woodward-Academy matchup will mark the final home game for a senior class that is going for their 4th straight district championship.
