(Audubon) The Audubon Wheelers started the game on an 8-0 run and outscored Riverside 18-4 in the third quarter to down Riverside 54-39 in the second round of Class 2A Girls Regional play on Tuesday.


Emily Nelsen scored 15 points to lead the way for the Wheelers who never trailed in the game. Sheyenne Smith paced Riverside with 11 points. The Bulldogs clawed back from an early hole to tie the game at 14, but in the second half would never trail by less than three. Audubon's largest lead of the game was 17 points, three Wheelers scored 11 each (Kyra Obermeier, Susie Bylund, and Haillie Anthofer). Audubon shot 19-30 from the free throw line in the win.


Audubon improves to 12-9 on the season. They move on to take on Treynor at Treynor on Friday in the regional semi-finals. Riverside bows out of the tourney at 7-16.
