(Greenfield) In a game that came down to the final seconds, Nodaway Valley hung on for a 64-60 win against Kuemper Catholic in the Wolverines regular season finale. Nodaway Valley never trailed in the second half, but that doesn't mean Kuemper Catholic didn't pose a threat down the stretch.
The Knights closed what was at one point a twelve deficit down to one point with less than two minutes to play. With Nodaway Valley up by three and under :30 to go, the Wolverines missed the front end of a one and one free throw leaving Kuemper with an opportunity. The Knights got a good look from Riley Bach to tie the game with five seconds left but the shot rimmed out. Dean Frank made one of two free-throws with :02 left to seal the win.
Bach scored 16 points off the bench for Kuemper Catholic and Sam Brincks had 15. Nodaway Valley featured a very balanced attack led by Alex Welsch with 14. Brad Baudler and Dean Frank each scored a dozen while TJ Bower had 11.
Nodaway Valley ends the regular season at 20-1. Kuemper Catholic drops to 13-8.
