(Harlan) Chris Hopkins, Broghan Kelly, Adam Zaccone, Cale Stork, and Jordan Seibert will all wrestle in their home gym this Saturday in hopes of reaching the state tourney.
Coach John Murtaugh says Hopkins is as healthy as he has been since early January which bodes well for the senior. Hopkins (36-7) will have 33-16 Zac McCoy of Shenandoah in the first round. He has defeated McCoy by fall in their regular season meeting. On the other side of the bracket are 39-3 Dusten Reed of Bedford/Lenox and 24-6 Jacob Challen of East Greene. Hopkins pinned Challen in the sectionals and has not wrestled Reed.
37-7 Broghan Kelly at 120 starts off with 23-8 Dillon Cox of Atlantic/CAM. Cox has defeated Kelly twice this year. 38-1 Blake Luna of Clarinda is the favorite on the bottom side of the bracket. Coach Murtaugh says Kelly's postseason experience will help him out Saturday.
33-13 Adam Zaccone wrestles 38-13 John French of Bedford/Lenox in the first round at 160 pounds. The winner will take on either 46-6 Tyler Kutz of South Central Calhoun or 18-23 John Sands of Red Oak.
Cale Stork leads the Cyclones in wins this season with 39 at 195. He has been dominant according to his head coach. Stork will need to get past 23-17 Cain Johanns of Clarinda in order to face either 33-11 Tyler Stork of Atlantic/CAM or 30-14 Taylor Christensen of Sergeant Bluff-Luton.
30-16 Jordan Siebert at Heavyweight will start off with 30-17 Dakota Calfee of Clarinda. Those two have had some very close battles this season with Siebert winning all three matches, but two of them went to overtime. 20-1 Aron King of South Central Calhoun is the favorite on the other side of the bracket. Siebert lost to King 7-4 in last week's sectional tournament.
