(Griswold) Heading into Friday's matchup with Audubon, Griswold Tiger Devin Bates needed just four more points to reach 1,000 for his career. It didn't take much time for the senior to join that exclusive club. Bates scored early and often in Griswold's decisive 59-27 win. Bates sped past the 1,000 point mark with 18 first half points on his way to 22 for the game.
Griswold came out hot and led 19-6 after the first quarter. Things got out of hand early in the second when the Tigers began the quarter on a quick 11-0 run, allowed only 1 point in the quarter, and took a 44-7 halftime lead. Tyrel Peters drilled three three-pointers in the first half and finished with 11 points, but the night was all about Bates who received a standing ovation during a first quarter timeout.
With five wins in their last six games Griswold improves to 8-12 on season. The frustration continues for Audubon as the Wheelers are 0-19. Lake Hacker scored 12 for the Wheelers and Andy Hoffman had 11.
