(Greenfield) Mount Ayr was the latest Pride Of Iowa Conference team in the path of juggernaut Nodaway Valley. The Wolverines picked up a 67-36 win Thursday to improve to 17-1 overall. The squad remains undefeated in conference play with their lone overall loss coming against Class 3A top ten ranked Creston. The Mount Ayr win marked the 16th time this season that the Wolverines have won by 20 points or more. The lone exception to that is Interstate-35 who the Wolverines beat by 19.

Coach Darrell Burmeister says it was another great defensive effort by Brad Baudler and T.J. Bower and great help defense. Nodaway Valley put 32 points on the board in the first quarter to open up a big early lead. They held Mount Ayr to only two points in the third quarter to take an advantage of thirty points going into the fourth quarter.

Brad Baudler scored 18 points to go along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Alex Welsch contributed yet another double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. T.J. Bower (11) and Dean Frank (10) combined for 21 points.

Nodaway Valley has a one game lead over I-35 in the conference standings with conference games at 1-14 Southeast Warren and 7-11 Bedford remaining. They will finish out the regular season a week from today with a big non-conference test against Kuemper Catholic.
