(Atlantic) It was another barn burner between Atlantic and Harlan in Hawkeye Ten Conference Boys basketball action at Atlantic Tuesday night. The Trojans held off the Cyclones at the end to win 55-52. The first meeting of the season the Trojans came from behind to win 43-41.
It was a game of runs. The Trojans led 10-7 after the first quarter, but the Cyclones behind Nathan Cave’s 10-second quarter points headed to the locker room with a 27-20 halftime lead.
Atlantic came out of the locker room in the third quarter and outscored the Cyclones 14-3 early in the stanza, but Harlan came roaring back with a 12-0 run of their own to lead 39-34 after three quarters.
But the final 8-minutes of the game belonged to the Trojans who ended the second half with four three point shots, 3-of them coming from the hands of senior point guard Chad Christiansen, including a key three-point basket with 2-minutes to play to push the Trojan lead to 52-46 and held off the Cyclones at the end to win 55-52.
Dalton Franken led Atlantic with 21-points, Chad Christiansen added 14, and Sam Markham, (pictured) who sat most of the first half in foul trouble contributed 10 second half points.
Trey Lansman led Harlan with 14, freshman, Kyle Juhl added 12, all three point shots and Nathan Cave chipped in 11.
Atlantic goes to 16-1, Harlan falls to 10-4.
