(Harlan) The Harlan girls basketball team, ranked 9th in Class 4A, survived a scare from Class 3A unranked Red Oak on Monday night. The Cyclones were able to come from behind in the fourth quarter to win 53-51 against the Tigers.
Jess Schaben scored 12 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, and blocked 4 shots to help aid the cause. The teams were tied at the end of the first quarter, but Harlan outscored the opposition 19-6 in the second quarter to take a 13 point halftime advantage. Red Oak quickly wiped that out in the second half with a 21-5 third quarter run to take a lead heading into the 4th. Harlan though would claw back from the three point deficit to pick up a two point victory.
The win is Harlan's 7th straight and moves their overall record to 15-1.
