(Corning) Corning was able to even out their season series with Nodaway Valley in girls basketball with a 56-49 win Tuesday.
Despite trailing for nearly the entire 3rd quarter, Corning was able to pick up the victory in come from behind fashion. Paige Jessen hit one of her three 3-pointers with time ticking down in the third quart to give the Red Raiders a 35-33 edge heading into the fourth quarter. Corning would post their best offensive quarter in the fourth putting 21 of their 56 points on the board in the final frame to win 56-49.
Marie Palmer scored a team high 16 points including back to back buckets midway through the fourth that gave Corning their largest lead of the game at 50-39. Ella Aiken sealed the game from the free throw line with five made free throws in the fourth quarter. Aiken finished with 15.
Corning improves to 6-11. Nodaway Valley drops to 10-6, Sydney Reeves scored 20 points for the Wolverines.
