(Carroll) The Atlantic Boys Basketball team came from behind to defeat Kuemper 43-41 Tuesday night to hang on to at least a share of the lead in the Hawkeye Ten Conference boys basketball race.

Kuemper jumped out to an early 9-2 lead before the Trojans closed the gap to 15-12 at the quarter break and 22-20 at the half.

The Trojans outscored Kuemper 14-4 in the third quarter to lead 34-26. However, Kuemper battled right back in the fourth quarter to tie the game 41-41. Senior Dalton Franken’s two free throws with 6-seconds remaining gave Atlantic a 43-41 lead.  The Knights three-point attempt with 3-seconds left fell short giving Atlantic a 43-41 win on the road.

Sam Markham led Atlantic with 18-points, Dalton Franken scored 11, and Stuart Hoegh chipped in 10.

Sam Brinks led the Knights with 18-points.

The (12-1) Trojans are currently tied for the lead in the Hawkeye Ten Conference race with Harlan and Creston.
