(Guthrie Center) Guthrie Center picked up a 69-30 win over Madrid Friday night to improve to 10-2 on the season. The Tigers have picked up back to back wins thanks in large part to the scoring exploits of senior Adam Courtney.
A. Courtney scored 34 points in a win against Earlham on Tuesday. The sharp-shooter surpassed 1,000 career points on Tuesday night and also broke the school record for career 3-pointers made in that win . Friday night he was back at it again scoring 31 in the victory over Madrid. The two game scoring spree has pushed his season average to 27.1 points per game which is #1 in the state regardless of class. He has also collected 15 steals in the last two games.
Not to be overlooked is Adam's twin brother Caleb Courntey who had a well-rounded game Friday night. C. Courtney scored 18 points to go along with 9 rebounds, 8 assists, and 8 steals against Madrid. The 10-2 Tigers play Exira-EHK today (1/12) in a game that some describe as the "Poldberg Bowl". Guthrie Center head coach Seth Poldberg played at Elk Horn-Kimballton in high school. Exira-EHK is coming off of a loss to Ankeny Christian Academy last night.
