(Red Oak) Dalton Franken scored 22-points to lead Atlantic past Red Oak 57-47 in a Hawkeye Ten Conference Boys basketball game Friday night.
The game was close early with each team exchanging leads before the Trojans went on a 12-0 run late in the first quarter that extended in the second quarter. Atlantic led 19-16 after one and 32-25 at the half.
Red Oak came out of the gate in the third quarter and scored 10-unanswered points and grabbed a 42-40 lead with: 46 left in the period. But, the Trojans tied it 42-42 on Ben Nelson’s 15-foot jumper at the buzzer to end the third quarter tied 42-42.
Each team exchanged buckets early in the fourth quarter, but that would be the last time the game would be deadlocked. Atlantic took a 48-44 lead and held the advantage the rest of the game and finished it off with free throws down the stretch to win 57-47.
Franken led Atlantic with 22-points, Sam Markham scored 17, and Chad Christiansen added 12-points.
Red Oak was lead by Ryan Leninger's 15-points; and Jose Perez added 10, for the 6-6 Tigers. Atlantic extends their record to 11-1, and travels to Kuemper on Tuesday night.
