(Harlan) Harlan Community Activities Director Mitch Osborn is pleased to announce the hiring of Megan Hoch as the Head Softball coach at Harlan Community High School for the 2013 season pending school board approval.
Megan is currently coaching 9th grade girls’ basketball at HCHS and is an elementary teacher at Walnut. Megan graduated from Wright City high school in Missouri where she was a 4 year starter at catcher. She was a 4 year all conference and district catcher and was named all state her junior & senior year.
Megan went on to play collegiate softball at the University of Missouri. She was a 4 year starter at catcher and was a 2 time all BIG 12 catcher & was named the BIG 12 player of the week twice during her career. Megan was named the BIG 12 defensive player of the year after her senior in the spring of 2011 and was also named academic all American her senior year. Megan helped lead the Missouri Tigers to 3 BIG 12 championships and 3 times to the College World Series.
Megan’s is married to Harlan alum Dan Hoch who is currently teaching History & coaching at Harlan Community high school. Megan replaces Toshia Kasperbauer who resigned this past fall. Kent Klinkefus will continue as assistant softball coach.
