ATLANTIC BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM EXTENDS RECORD TO 10-1 AFTER WIN OVER CRESTON TUESDAY


(Creston) Atlantic handed Creston its’ first loss of the high school  boys basketball season Thursday night 47-40 at Creston.

 

Creston guard Colby Taylor knocked down a three-point shot shortly after the opening tip to give the Panthers a 3-0 lead, and they (Creston)  never trailed until the fourth quarter.

 

Creston jumped out to a 12-4 after one quarter of play but the Trojans battled back and narrowed the gap to 16-15 at the half. Trojan Senior guard Sam Markham scored 11 of the Trojans 15 first half points.

 

Atlantic came out of the locker room in the second half and got on a roll outscoring the Panthers 15-4 at one stretch led by Senior Forward Dalton Franken’s 13-second half points. Atlantic took the lead for good during a 9-2 run in the fourth quarter to go on to win 47-40.

 

“We did not out basketball them, we just out willed them, and that was the main difference in the game,” stated Atlantic Head Coach Steve Blazek. “Those kids in that locker room have a lot of heart and a lot of will.”

 

Dalton Franken and Sam Markham led the Trojans with 15-points each. Chad Christiansen added 13-points. Creston was led by Briar Evans with 11-points. Trey Thomsen and Luke Neitzel ended the night with 9-points each.

 

Atlantic extends their record to 10-1, Creston falls to 9-1.
