(Elk Horn) Exira-EHK picked up a 47-35 girls basketball win over CAM Tuesday night thanks in large part to their fast start. The Spartans scored the first 12 points and didn't allow a CAM field goal in the first quarter leading 15-1 after the first eight minutes. Early in the second quarter Exira-EHK added to their lead before CAM came to life late in the first half and cut the margin to nine, at 21-12 by halftime.
CAM continued to chip away in the second half but could never get closer than four points. Exira-EHK was led by Rachel Smith's 21 points which included 12/14 from the free throw line. As a team the Spartans connected on 19/22 free throws. Claire Paulsen scored 11 for Exira-EHK who improves to 8-1 this season with their fifth straight win.
CAM drops to 5-3 with each team having one came left ahead of the holidays. Emily Beerman scored 14 points for the Cougars and Carson Heiney pitched in with 10.
