(Oakland) In boys basketball Riverside sits at 6-0 with three games remaining remaining in before the holiday break.
The Bulldogs win on Friday over Tri-Center broke a tie with the Trojans atop the conference standings. Riverside got off to a 13-0 lead to start the game and never trailed. They were able to hold off several comeback attempts by Tri-Center who could never close the gap to any closer than five points.
Riverside increased the lead over the final five minutes of the game and pulled away with a 67-49 victory. Class 1A's leading scorer in the state Ricky Williams had 30 points. The Riverside senior scored 21 of those in the first half and made 15/20 free throw attempts in the win.
Williams' exploits offset a 21 point outing from Tri-Center's Brittan Berrier. The Trojans suffer their first loss of the season.
