(Harlan) Harlan topped Kuemper Catholic 59-50 in girls basketball last night. Harlan stays perfect this season with that nine point victory.

The game was very close in the first quarter with the teams exchanging leads and Harlan holding a 16-15 advantage through the first eight minutes. The Cyclones defense though would clamp down in the second quarter only allowing five points to take a 32-20 halftime edge. Harlan continued to control the game throughout the third quarter and early in the fourth building a lead as large as 16 points. However free throw stuggles down the stretch combined with Kuemper's three point shooting cut the lead to as little as six in the final minutes, but Kuemper could not get any closer. One big difference in the game was Harlan's bench outscoring Kuemper's 37-6.
