(Atlantic) Cole Neary scored 25-points to lead Kuemper, Catholic Carroll past Atlantic 64-57 Friday night at Atlantic.

Neary had to pick up the slack after Sam Brinks, who averages 15-points a game, spent much of the first half on the bench with foul trouble. The Knights led 10-7 after one quarter and 27-26 at the halftime break.

The Trojans led by Sam Markham’s season high 19-points, took a 4-point lead right out of the gate in the third quarter with a 5-0 run.

Chad Christiansen hit a three-point shot and Markham scored on a layup to give the Trojans a 31-27 lead. But the Knights fired 9-unanswered points to re-gain the lead 36-31, before Markham broke the Kuemper run on a transition layup to cut the lead to 36-33. A Markham free throw shortly after that sliced Kuemper’s lead to 36-34.

Each team exchanged three point buckets to move the score to 39-37, Kuemper, before Stuart Hoegh pulled down an offensive rebound and put it back in to tie the game at 39-39.

The Trojans grabbed a 41-39 lead on a Chad Christiansen assist to Sam Markham on a fast break with 2:10 left in the third quarter and extended their lead to 43-39 on Dalton Franken’s short jumper.  Each team then exchanged baskets to leave the score at 47-45, after three, Atlantic with the advantage.

Kuemper regained the lead 48-47 early in the final stanza on Chris Halburs’ three-pointer but fell behind 49-48, on Dalton Frankens two-point jumper. Moments later the Knights regained the lead 50-49 on Cole Neary’s lay up and never trailed again to win 64-57.

Sam Markham led Atlantic with 19-points, Dalton Franken (pictured)  finished the game with 14, Chad Christiansen knocked down 11, Harrison Hoegh 6, Stuart Hoegh, 5, and Jared Fulk chipped in 2.

Cole Neary led all scorers with 25-points, Sam Brinks knocked down 10-points and Carter Ludwig chipped in 8 for the 3-2 Knights. The Trojans go to 3-1 on the season.
