(Irving, Texas) Iowa State senior Will Clyburn was named Big 12 Rookie of the Week, announced today by the league office. Clyburn was picked by a select panel of media who cover Big 12 hoops.
A native of Detroit, Mich., Clyburn was instrumental in Iowa State's 83-62 win over BYU on Saturday, scoring a career-high 32 points. Clyburn, who had 22 points in the first half, also recorded five rebounds, two blocks and two steals in the win. He's the first Cyclone to record 30 points in a game since Jake Anderson notched 33 vs. Colorado in the 2011 Big 12 Tournament.
It was the 14th game of his career with 20 or more points.
Clyburn is currently averaging 17.3 points and 8.6 rebounds, ranking second in the Big 12 on the boards. The senior is averaging 26.5 points in his last two games, and in his three career games vs. BYU, is averaging 24.3 points.
