(Humboldt) The Atlantic/CAM wrestlers finished second at the Humboldt Wrestling Tournament Friday night. Humboldt captured the team title with 249-points, Atlantic piled up 220- points.
The Trojans crowned three champions including; Darrian Schwenke, (113), Reid Nichols, (138), and Matt Williamson (182). Tyler Stork, (220), finished second and Matt Smith, (145), and Jez Phippen, (285) were third.
This meet comes a day after Atlantic defeated Griswold 36-33 and fell short to Audubon 36-34 in a double-dual at Audubon Thursday night.
"There a number of things this team needs to improve upon to compete at a high level," stated Atlantic Head Coach Tim Duff. "And we are going to have some ups and downs this season, but I thought this tournament was a nice start to the year."
Three wrestlers finished the eight team tournament in fourth including; Marshall McDermott, (120), Austin Williamson, (132), and Jordan Mauk, (170). Fifth place finishes went to Colby Clarken, (126), Jacob Johnson, (195), and Tyler Christiansen, (285).
Atlantic hosts Clarinda and Creston in a double-dual Thursday, December 6.
