(Murray) Murray and Adair-Casey slugged it out in a see-saw battle Friday night in an 8-player quarterfinal at Murray before the Mustangs were able to outscore Adair-Casey 60-43.

Each team exchanged scores throughout the first half. But, a Murray 33-yard touchdown pass from Quarterback Austin Halls to Cody Scroggie with 19-seconds left in the second quarter gave the Mustangs a 28-23 halftime lead…and they would never trail again.

Murray received the ball to start the second half and scored on an Austin Halls 30-yard touchdown run to extend the Mustang lead to 36-23. The Bombers bounced back on a Clayton Plowman 55-yard touchdown run…snugging the lead to 36-29. But, the Mustangs answered with 1:55 left in the third quarter on a Seth Nerness 55-yard tally and Murray led 44-29 after the two-point conversion.

The Bombers kept chipping away and mounted a long drive capped by a Clayton Plowman 1-yard run to close the gap to 44-37 after the two-point conversion. But, Mustang Quarterback Austin Halls would score twice more on runs of 65 and 33-yards. In between Halls scores, Clayton Plowman capped a drive with a one-yard TD run, but Adair-Casey couldn’t quite catch up and when the dust cleared Murray on the game 60-43.

Mustang Quarterback Austin Halls scored five touchdowns on runs of 50, 65, 30, 65, and 33-yards. Halls carried the ball 25-times for 381-yards and five touchdowns including runs; 50, 65, 30, 65, and 33-yards. Halls also fired a touchdown pass to Cody Scroggie.

Clayton Plowman crossed the goal line five times for the Bombers with a pick-6, and runs of 65, 55, and two runs of 1-yard each.

(12-0) Murray advances to the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls on Thursday.  The Bombers bow out at 9-2 record.

Afterwards Adair-Casey Head Coach Wade Andersen had this to say.
