(Exira) Exira-EHK's unblemished record stays intact with a 56-7 win over Coon Rapids-Bayard in second round play-off action at Exira Wednesday night.The Spartans took advantage of 8-Crusader turnover's. Drew Peppers grabbed three interceptions and scored three touchdowns for the Spartans now 11-0.


Spartan Quarterback Drew Peppers scored three first quarter touchdowns on runs of 2, 6, and snagged a 55-yard touchdown pass from his brother Nick Peppers to put the Spartans up 20-0 with 6:38 left to play in the first quarter. The Spartans scored twice more in the second stanza on a Drew Peppers to Trey Sander 33-yard pass, and a ten-yard run that gave Exira-EHK a 35-0 Halftime lead.


The Crusaders got on the board at the 3:15 mark in the third quarter on Keaton Schlatter's 20-yard pass to Brenden McAllister to cut the lead to 35-7. The Spartans then added three more scores in the fourth quarter. Drew Peppers scored on a 6-yard run, Trey Sander ran it in from 19-yards out, and Cody Jens recovered a fumble in the end zone for the final score of the night.


Trey Sander led the Spartan rushing attack on 17-carries for 116-yards and two touchdowns. Nick Peppers carried the ball 18-times for 109-yards and Drew Peppers finished the night with 64-yards on 18-carries. The Sophomore Quarterback went 5-8 in the air for 81-yars and one touchdown... a 32-yarder to Trey Sander.


Exira-EHK will be home again this Friday night as they host Glidden-Ralston in a quarter-final playoff showdown for a trip to the semi-finals in the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls. This will be the second meeting of these two teams. The Spartens won the first contest 40-20 in a game on September 21.


The winner of this game will earn a trip to the UNI-Dome for a semi-final on November 8.
