(Victor) Murray eliminated Adair-Casey in the quarterfinal round of the 8-player football playoffs last year. Bomber fans and players do not need to be reminded of that. The team finally has a chance to avenge that loss this Friday night in the 2012 quarterfinals.
Adair-Casey advances to that matchup with a 52-20 victory at HLV, Victor on Monday. The Bombers raced out to a 21-0 lead and were on top 42-6 by halftime. Gunnar Dinkla passed for two scores (34 yards to Traeton Jensen and 35 yards to Jordan Wheatley) and ran for two more. Clayton Plowman ran for two first half touchdowns to aid the Bomber's cause. HLV did make a run in the second half cutting the lead to 42-20 at one point, but that's when Gunnar Dinkla found Jordan Wheatley wide open down the left sideline on a play-action fake to put the game away. HLV's last gasp at a comeback attempt was negated when a 77-yard touchdown pass was wiped off the board on a holding call in the end zone resulting in a safety, and thus a 52-20 Bomber lead.
Adair-Casey moves to 10-1 on the season. They are one step away from returning to the Dome for the first time since 2009. Standing in their way will be the very familiar Murray Mustangs who have defeated Adair-Casey the last two times the teams have met up. Friday night's game between 10-1 Adair-Casey and 11-0 Murray will air on KS95.7 FM.
