(Harlan) The Harlan Community Cyclones are no stranger to overtime games. The Cyclones downed Atlantic 28-21 in a Week 8 overtime thriller and followed it up with another classic battle against ADM, prevailing 23-17 in the extra session.
The Cyclones got up early thanks to a pair of Trey Lansman touchdown receptions in the first half. Harlan led 14-0 at halftime. ADM would score first in the second half. Tate Jensen picked off a pass midway through the third quarter and ADM cashed in. On a 4th and 11 play, ADM quarterback Kyle Herrick rifled a pass to Jensen for a 26 yard TD. With the score at 14-7, Harlan answered right back with a time consuming drive that ended with a 35 yard field goal to go up 17-7. ADM needed little time to get back to a one possesion game as they scored on a Sam Plagman run from over fifty yards out to make it 17-14. Harlan was unable to put the game away in the fourth quarter and with 1:31 left in regulation ADM booted a 26 yard field goal to send the game to overtime. ADM missed a field goal attempt in overtime and Harlan needed only two plays to power in a touchdown run for the win. Austin Hess carried it out from one yard out to end the game.
Harlan finished out the regular season at 8-1 overall and thanks to a Lewis Central win over Creston/O-M, they win the district title. ADM will get the #2 seed but the Tigers have lost three of their last four games.
