(Guthrie Center) The Guthrie Center Tiger football team has roared back with two straight wins.
After starting the season 0-6, that makes the two straight wins all the more rewarding. Coach Bob Bolton says their hasn’t been any big turning point, instead the team is just sticking to their game plan.
A big reason for the two wins was the running game. Guthrie Center has put up 612 yards rushing the last two weeks. That’s 46% of their season total in only two games. Austin Laabs rumbled for 168 yards against Martensdale-St Marys two weeks ago and Gavin Laughery posted a season high 180 on the ground against Earlham last week.
Guthrie Center would love to end their season by derailing Madrid for multiple reasons. It would end a long draught against Madrid plus give the squad momentum heading into next season.
Coach Bolton notes that if they play the way they have the last two weeks they will have a shot to be in the game.
