(Atlantic) Cyclone Quarterback Adam Juhl threw a 6-yard touchdown strike to Chris Hopkins in overtime to give Harlan the overtime win in a thriller at the Trojan Bowl in Atlantic Friday night.

The Trojans had the Cyclones down to one play in OT, but were called for pass interference which put Harlan on the Trojan six-yard line with a fresh set of downs. Juhl hit Hopkins from the six to open up a 7-point overtime lead. Atlantic was unable to punch it in and the Cyclones picked up the “W” in overtime 28-21.

Atlantic deferred and kicked off to start the game. The Cyclones went three and out and punted the football to the Trojans. Atlantic marched right down the field from the Harlan 43 and took a 7-0 lead on a Harrison Hoegh quarterback keeper from 11-yards out. It became a defensive battle until 5:28 left in the first half when Juhl found Nate Kloewer on a 58-yard touchdown pass to even the game up at 7-7, which is how the first half ended.

The Trojans took a 14-7 lead early in the third quarter on a Jacob Dvorak 5-yard run, but the Cyclones would answer with 14-straight points on a Hopkins 12-yard run and a Juhl to David Ratigan 2-yard pass to take a 21-14 lead. The Trojans tied the game 21-21, with 3:42 left, on a 13-yard screen pass from Hoegh to Dvorak. That was followed with a  key interception by Trojan Cornerback Sam Markham with seconds left in the contest. The Trojans ran out the clock and sent the game into overtime.

Harlan finished the night with 360-yards of total offense with 209-rushing yards. The Cyclones ground out 190 of those yards came in the second half. Adam Juhl was 11-31 in the air for 151-yards and 2-touchdown passes and Chris Hopkins carried the ball 31-times for 127-yards for the 7-1 Harlan Community Cyclones.

For Atlantic, Harrison Hoegh cracked the 2000-yard single season passing mark  by completing 17-of-34 passes for 196-yards. Hoegh now has a school record breaking 2073 yards passing so far this season. Dalton Franken caught 5-passes for 40-yards, Jacob Dvorak four receptions for 36-yards and a touchdown. Sam Markham hauled in 3-passes for 79-yards, and Kray Lukehart grabbed 2-passes for 59-yards.

Harlan squares off against ADM next Friday night. Atlantic hosts Glenwood next week.
