(Neola) Treynor, Tri-Center, and Underwood all split the regular season championship in Western Iowa Conference volleyball and had to go to a tie-break to determine conference tournament seeding. Underwood was given the three seed because they had lost more sets throughout the season than Tri-Center and Treynor. Treynor edged Tri-Center for the #1 seed based on alphabetical order.
Tri-Center coach Brian Wedemyer says this year's tourney is shaping up to be one of the most competetive that the conference has had in several seasons. The top four seeds will host first round games beginning on Monday. Winners of the first round will head to Tri-Center High School on Tuesday for the 2nd round. The championship and consolation matches are held at Tri-Center on Thursday, October 11th.
Coach Wedemeyer says the play of setter Emily Baatz has been a big factor in his squad's success. He also points out that Shelby Sullivan and Malory Christiansen have had big seasons for the Trojans. Coach Wedemeyer lists Anna Spomer as the most consistent defensive player.
