(Atlantic) As the 2012 Atlantic Trojan football team continues to try and fight their way into the playoffs, a couple of seniors are putting up big time numbers.
Quarterback Harrison Hoegh leads Class 3A in passing yardage this season with 1,625 yards. Much of the production has come from throwing the ball to Sam Markham whose 752 receiving yards is also a state best. The dynamic duo is putting themselves in good company when it comes to former Atlantic Trojan standouts. Hoegh needs only 192 yards to pass Bret Meyer's 2002 mark of 1,817. The record that Markham is closing in on has stood for 41 years. Al Wernimont set the record in 1971 when he recorded 814 yards.
Atlantic, and these two very productive seniors, have three games remaining. Atlantic travels to Perry in Week 7, they host Harlan in Week 8, and welcome Glenwood to town in Week 9.
