(Griswold) Griswold's defense has been a strength all season long and on Friday night against West Monona they were able to pick up their first shutout of the season. Griswold has nowwon three games in a row to improve to 4-2 while West Monona stays winless.
The Tiger offense controlled the clock with a fierce rushing attack. The team picked up 309 of their 324 total yards on the ground. Kenneth Clary led the way with 156 yards and three TD's. Tyler Muhlbauer and Caleb Schaaf also added rushing scores for Griswold as the Tigers go to 3-1 in District play. They stand one game behind co-district leaders Underwood and Logan-Magnolia.
Josh Metheny and Collin Fast were the two top tacklers in the shutout. Metheny, who had 22 tackles a week ago, notched 14 stops from his linebacker position. Collin Fast posted 10 tackles and Caleb Schaaf returned an interception 30 yards for a TD. Shaaf's pick was one of four turnovers that the defense forced as Mason Anstey, Morgan Kimpson, and Brighton Brandt all had fumble recoveries.
Up next for Griswold is a 1-5 Riverside squad. The Tigers have two of their final three games at home including a dual with district unbeated Logan-Magnolia in Griswold in Week 9.
