(Denison) Atlantic firing on all cylinders shut out Denison-Schleswig, 40-0 at Denison Friday night.
The Trojans rolled up 461 total yards of total offense, 227-yards on the ground and 234-yards in the air. Hoegh rushed for 102-yards and Dvorak, totaled 97. Defensively, Stuart Hoegh led the way with 8-tackles; Chad Christensen added 7-stops, and picked off two Monarch passes.
The defense set the tone for the Trojans stopping Denison/Schleswig on their opening drive on a three and out, and on Atlantic’s opening play they scored on a 53-yard hook-n-ladder. Senior Quarterback Harrison Hoegh who finished the night, (14-22, 215- yards and 3- touchdown passes,) fired an aerial to Sam Markham in the right flat. Markham then flipped the ball to junior tailback Jacob Dvorak, who grabbed the pitch and sprinted down the right sideline for the touchdown and the 6-0 lead.
The Trojans built a 26-0 halftime lead on the 53-yard trick play followed by a Hoegh to Markham 34-yard touchdown pass. Harrison Hoegh added to the lead with a 16-yard run, and Kray Lukehart capped a long Trojan drive with a 3-yard scamper to end the half.
Atlantic picked up where they left off in the third quarter with two touchdowns before the starters were sent to the sidelines for a much deserved fourth quarter rest. Hoegh, who had a hand in four of the five Trojan scores, hit Markham on a 21-yard pass, and scrambled out of trouble late in the third quarter and cruised into the end zone to seal the 40-0 win.
Atlantic 3-2 hosts 5-0 ADM this Friday night in a homecoming game at Trojan Bowl. Kick-off is set for 7:30.
