(Audubon) The Audubon Wheelers will look to bounce back from a loss at AHST when they take on Madrid this week. Audubon coach Monte Riebhoff describes last week's defeat as 'sluggish.' Audubon grabbed an early lead in Week 2 before losing the game 36-20.
The Wheelers start district play this week and while the team moves from Class 1A last year to Class A this year, that doesn't necessarily mean the schedule will be any easier, at least not at first. The Wheelers next three weeks feature matchups with Madrid, Woodward-Granger, and Bedford.
Madrid, like Audubon, is 1-1 on the season. Madrid lost their season opening game to Des Moines Christian by seven points but then rebounded to beat Van Meter last week 24-19.
Among the keys for Audubon will be stopping Madrid's stout running game. Madrid is averaging 332 rushing yards per game.
