(Audubon) Audubon beat Riverside 32-7 in a high school football game that aired on KSOM Friday night.
A very close game at halftime turned into several highlights for Audubon and alot of frustration for Riverside in the second half. Audubon scored first in the game when sophomore quarterback Trevor Smith was able to find wide receiver Lucas Smith-Petersen for a 71 yard touchdown catch and run early on. Riverside answered back late in the first quarter to even the game at 7-7. On a fourth and four play, Riverside's Clay Harris scored on a nine yard touchdown run.
Audubon took things over in the second half with more big plays on the ground and through the air. Trevor Smith ran for a five yard touchdown to re-claim the lead and then gave the Wheelers a two-score avantage when he found L. Smith-Petersen again, this time for a ten yard TD. With Audubon leading 20-7 in the fourth quarter, Colby Rattenborg returned a punt 68 yards for a touchdown to put the game out of reach. With the subs in the game during the final minute Audubon tacked on another score for good measure. Freshman Matthew Smith-Petersen ran one in from ten yards out to make it a 32-7 final score.
