FORMER CRESTON PANTHER HONORED BY OMAHA WORLD HERALD

(Creston) 2012 Creston High School graduate Collin Bevins has been named the Omaha World Herald's 2012 Male Athlete of the Year. Bevins is an Iowa State football defensive line recruit who also won a state wrestling championship and ran at the state track meet.

Bevins helped lead Creston/O-M to a district championship in football with his play on the offensive and defensive line. He also finished his senior wrestling season with a 54-1 record. 47 of those wins, including the 285 pound state championship match, were by pin. In track and field he won the conference championship in the shotput and also placed third (23.4) in the 200 Meter Dash.

The last five Omaha World Herald Male Athletes of the Year are Levi Ettleman from Logan-Magnolia, Brandon Scherff of Denison-Schleswig, Bryant Hummel from Clarinda, Kaleb Evans from Creston, and Jimmy Waters from Lewis Central.
