(Neola) The Tri-Center girls cross country team that placed 6th at last year's state meet is gearing up for the 2012 season.
Ashtyn Alfers and Kaitlyn Vorthman graduate, but the rest of the varsity runners return as well as Alex Larsen who comes back from a knee injury. Larsen ran on the 2010 team that placed 3rd in the state.
Michelle Mumm comes back and she finished 12th last season and 22nd in '10.
Coach Dennis Jarrett says Griswold will be the favorite in the conference. Griswold was the 2011 WIC champion and returns all of their varsity runners.
On the boys side Tri-Center brings back four letterwinners and will be very young. Darian Irlbeck is the top returner.
The first meet for Tri-Center will be August 28th at Logan-Magnolia.
