(Greenfield) Nodaway Valley finished with a winning record during the 2011 football season but missed the playoffs.
Coach Steve Shantz says last year's near miss has driven the team through the summer and into the 2012 season.
This year's team will look to have an improved defensive unit. The team gave up 22.7 points per game a year ago and would like to see that number drop closer to their 2010 total of 14 points per game allowed. The depth at linebacker should be a strength for Nodaway Valley.
Offensively this season alot rests on the shoulders of Quarterback Brad Baudler. He passed for 14 and ran for 12 touchdowns last year and will likely be even more vital to the offense this year.
Nodaway Valley shift to Class 1A District 8 this year which includes returning playoff teams St. Albert, Panorama, Tri-Center, and Treynor. Rounding out the district schedule will be West Central Valley and Missouri Valley.
