QUARTERBACK BATTLE ENSUES AT HARLAN FOOTBALL PRACTICES

(Harlan) Preseason football practices continue around the state and 2011 State Semi-Finalist Harlan has a competition at quarterback. Senior Brandon Bjoin, Junior Adam Juhl, and Freshman Michael Sorfenden are all trying to replace 2011 graduate Zach Osborn who was Class 3A's leading passer last season. Coach Curt Bladt says Bjoin will get the first look since he is a senior.

With the Cyclones breaking in a new starter at quarterback, running backs Austin Hess and Christian Hopkins could see an increased workload. The pair of backs split time as the starter a year ago and accounted for nearly 1,000 combined yards.

The Cyclones bring back three of their top five tacklers on defense. That group inlcudes Connor Clayton and Jeff Flies each tallied more than 100 tackles during the 2011 season.
