(Adair) The season opener is inching closer for the Adair-Casey Bomber football team. They'll hold their scrimmage tonight and then will travel to CAM on the 17th to play a game that counts.
(Adair) Adair-Casey has finished 9-3 each of the last three seasons and will look to get at least one step farther this years.
Clayton Plowman retunrs for his third year at running back to lead what has been a strong rushing attack. Plowman has already topped 3,000 career yards and coach Wade Anderson says the junior is continuing to get better as he matures. Coach Anderson says the offensive line is beginning to gel. That group will be led by three year starter Dillon Suhr.
Defensively the team will need to replace leading tacker Cole Palmer, a task that coach Anderson says is impossible to do. Josh Irlmeier who piled up 84 tackles last year will slide into Palmer's position on defense. Irlmeier along with returning all-state defense end Jordan Wheatley are expected to be the leaders of the defense whose main objective will be to improve on their pass defense.
Adair-Casey and CAM will be one of 32 Week 0 games across the state next Friday. KSOM will air the game and will also have the Bomber's Week 9 matchup with Coon Rapids-Bayard.
