(Neola) Tri-Center and second year head coach John Tiarks are taking a somewhat different approach when it comes to preparing for the 2012 football season. Instead of the traditional two-a-day practices, Tri-Center runs one long practive from 6:00-10:00 p.m. Coach Tiarks says that helps the team beat the heat while also challenging them to stay sharp mentally.
With their 6-4 overall record last season Tri-Center snapped a 14 year playoff absence. That success has carried over into the offseason and combined with the returning skill position players should lead to another strong campaign in 2012.
Tri-Center is one of three teams remaining in Class 1A District 8 along with St. Albert and Treynor. The district welcomes newcomers West Central Valley, Nodaway Valley, Missouri Valley, and Panorama.
