2012 HAWKEYE TEN CONFERENCE BASEBALL TEAMS RELEASED


(Atlantic) Four players were named  unanimous selections to the First Team Hawkeye Ten All Conference Baseball team released today.

 

The four included; Junior Pitcher Chris Forbes, of Kuemper, Senior infielder, Brady Thies, of Denison, and outfielders, Junior Logan Nolting, of Kuemper and Senior Blake Esbeck, of Atlantic.

 

The others named to the first team include pitchers; Alec Forbes, Junior, Glenwood, and David Ratigan, Junior, Harlan. Catchers; Zach Osborn, Senior, Harlan, and Freshmen catcher, Austin Simmons, Lewis Central. Infielders; Senior, Ben Bruck, Harlan, Carter Ludwig, Junior, Kuemper, and Senior, Eric Scott,Lewis Central. Junior outfielder; Mitch Bowden, of Glenwood was also named to the first team. .

 

Second team selections include; Pitchers, Josh Bruck, Senior, Harlan, Dakota Woods, Junior, Clarinda, and sophomore, Corey Bertini, of Glenwood. Catchers; Zach Powers, Junior, Creston, and Kray Lukehart, Junior, Atlantic. Infielders; Robert Lyons, Junior, Denison, Jake Deages, Junior, Harlan, Senior, David Hicks, Kuemper ,and Senior, Ethan George, Lewis Central. Outfielders; Nick Leinen, Junior, Red Oak, Junior, Tyler Jensen,  Glenwood, and Kolby Hilgenberg, a Junior, Kuemper. Utility players; Nate Kramer, senior, Lewis Central, Nathan Haley, Sophomore,Creston, and Senior, Grant Stiver, from Glenwood.

 

Honorable Mention: Atlantic-Chad Christensen (Jr.) and Austin Conrad (Sr.), Clarinda-Jeremiah Haug (Sr.)  and Logan Wilham (Sr.), Creston-Cole Crawford (So.),Harlan-Denny Kramer (Sr.), Red Oak-Tanner Johnson (Jr.), Shenandoah-Jackson Baker (So.) and Zac McCoy (Jr.).

 

Harlan and Glenwood tied for the conference title with 15-3 records, Atlantic finished third at 14-4, Kuemper was fourth with an 11-7 conference record and Lewis Central was fifth at 10-8. Creston finished sixth with an even 9-9 record, and the balance of the conference included; Denison, 8-10, Clarinda, 5-13, Shenandoah, 3-13, and Red Oak, 0-18.
