ATLANTIC OUSTED BY CARROLL IN 1-0 GAME

(Denison) The Atlantic baseball team saw their 2012 baseball campaign come to an end in the first round of the district tournament with a 1-0 against Carroll on Friday night. The Trojans end the year with 19 wins and 11 losses.

Carroll senior Kevin Duhrkopf outdueled Atlantic senior Gunnar Blum to send the Tigers into the district final against Sergeant-Bluff Luton on Monday. Duhrkopf allowed only three hits while walking one and striking out four. Blum gave up one run on six hits and six walks. Blum’s seven strikeouts kept the game close as Carroll stranded  10 runners on base. The only run of the game came very early on. Carroll claimed a one run advantage in the top of the first when they compiled two walks and one hit. Steven Dreesman came home on a Hayden Ostrich single.

Atlantic’s lone hits came from Blake Esbeck and Kray Lukehart (pictured in a previous game).
