EXIRA/EHK HEADS TO DISTRICT SEMI-FINALS WITH WIN OVER GUTHRIE CENTER


(Guthrie Center) Exira-EHK scattered 7-runs in four of the 7-innings to defeat Guthrie Center 7-3 Tuesday night in a Class 1A District quarterfinal at Guthrie Center. Exira/EHK Head Coach Tony Petersen called the team’s performance a blue collar effort.

Nick and Drew Peppers hitting in the 8th and 9th spots in the batting order had productive nights at the plate, something that made Coach Tony Petersen smile after the game.

Nick Peppers finished the night 2-2 at the plate, one RBI and scored two runs. Drew Peppers went 2-3 and scored a run. Nolan Parker drilled a solo homerun and finished the night 2-4, with 2-RBI’s. Dayton Rasmussen (pictured below) and Zach Himmelberg finished the night 1-4, for the 20-3 Spartans.

 

 

Exira/EHK led 7-0 going into the bottom of the 7th, but the Tigers didn’t go down easy. They scored 3-runs on three hits and left a runner before bowing out.

 

Cale Crowder led the Bombers with a double and a single and Gaven McGivney and Jared Bair each singled for the Tigers.

 

Exira/EHK plays CAM Thursday night in a 1A District semi-final at Guthrie Center.
