(Adel) Bondurant-Farrar defeated the Atlantic Trojanns 5-0 in a Class 3A Regional Final Softball game at Adel Monday night. The Lady Jays scored 5-runs on 6-hits, and committed no errors. Atlantic scored no runs on seven hits and committed three errors.
The Lady Jays scored two runs on one hit in the bottom of the first inning. Lead off batter Ashley Burrows singled, stole second base and scored on Bobbi Jo Burrows RBI single. Mariah Laven's sacrifice scored Bobbi Jo Burrows from third and the Lady Jays would never trail after that. Keely Bycroft singled and scored in the second, and Bondurant-Farrar scored two more insurance runs in the sixth to win 5-0.
Leah Tjepkes lead the Trojanns at the plate with two singles in three at bats. Reann Capple was one for three with a double, Marrisa Berns, Tiara Edleman, Alisha Hinzeman, and Mollee Welter each had singles for the Trojanns.
Cailey Schlenker pitched a seven hit shut out for the 35-7 Lady Jays. She struck out four batters and walked just one. Marissa Berns took the loss for the 23-19, Atlantic Trojanns. Berns struck out one batter, walked two and hit one.
Bondurant-Farrar will take on Davenport-Assumption in the first round of the Class 3A State Softball Tournament on Tuesday. .
