(Harlan) Harlan defeated Lewis Central in the first round of the Class 4A Regional Tournament. The Cyclones made it look easy with a 7-0 victory improving to 31-9 overall.

Harlan Junior Taylor Schaben had a big night with two home runs at the plate and a six hit shutout in the pitchers circle. It was a welcome sight for Coach Toshia Kasperbauer and the Cyclones to see Schaben return after suffering an elbow injury at last weekend's tournament.

Things got off to a good start for the Cyclones when Schaben led off the bottom of the first inning with homerun. Jenna Hoch singled in a run in the third and the Cylcones broke things open in the fourth with Schaben's three run homer. A Carly Heese (pictured) homerun in the fifth inning gave the Cyclones their sixth and seventh runs.

Lewis Central had opportunities offensively but stranded runners on base in five innings and hit into a 3-2-5 triple play in the fourth.
