(Atlantic) The Atlantic Trojanns scored 15 runs on 20-hits Tuesday night in a 15-5 win over Clarinda in a Class 3A Regional Softball game at Atlantic.

Atlantic scored five runs in the fourth and 7-runs in the top of the seventh, and scattered one run in the first and two-runs in the fifth. The Cardinals scored a run in the first, two in the second, and another run in the sixth.

Atlantic started off slow, but the momentum gradually built throughout the game. The Trojanns gained a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on Marissa Berns RBI double scoring Reann Cappel. Emily Beadle hit an RBI single for Clarinda in the bottom of the inning to tie it at 1-1.

The Cardinals gained a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning on a wild pitch and Emily Beadle’s RBI single. But, the Trojanns came roaring back in the top of the fourth with five runs on five hits including RBI’s singles from Bre VonWeyhe, Mackenzie Holmes, and Marissa Berns.

The Cardinals made it a 6-4 game in the bottom of the fourth on Mackenzie Farlin’s RBI single, but that would be as close as they would come to the Trojanns the rest of the night.

Atlantic scored two more in the fifth and exploded with seven runs on six hits in the top of the seventh to seal the deal 15-5. Bre VonWeyhe, Mackenzie Holmes, Marissa Berns, Alisha Hinzeman, and Tiara Edleman all had RBI singles for Atlantic in that frame.
