(Harlan) Tri-Center and Harlan combined for 30 runs and 23 hits in a back and fourth baseball game won by Harlan community Tuesday night.
Harlan missed their extra point but still hung on for a 20-10 over Tri-Center, we’re talking high school baseball, not football.
It was Tri-Center who actually scored first, the Trojans raced out to a 2-0 lead after one inning and lead 5-0 through an inning and a half. Tri-Center’s offense on the night was led by Connor Witt who had three hits, four RBI’s and two runs scored.
Harlan’s bats would answer in the bottom of the second when they recorded five runs on four hits and three walks. The Cyclones sent 11 batters to the plate in the 2nd inning which was one of three innings in which they would bat around on the night. Harlan also scored six runs in the third and nine in the 5th. Nine different Harlan Cyclones scored runs in the game led by Zach Osborn and Josh Bruck with three each. Josh Bruck finished with two bunt singles the first of which got the tide turned according to coach Steve Daegas.
Seven different hitters recorded at least one hit in the game. The fifth inning was the largest for the Cyclones who scored 9 runs to end the game in five innings. In that frame the Cyclones took advantage of six walks and two hit batters. Zach Osborn had an RBI single which drove in the game winning runs.
Tri-Center drops to 9-9 overall and Harlan is 16-6.
